If anyone thirsts let him come to Me and drink. He who believes in Me, as the Scripture has said, out of his heart will flow rivers of living water. John 7: 37, 38
Oh! How we all need a cup of cool, refreshing water? Especially, when the day is arid and our throat is parched. Our bodies scream for this refreshment. Oh, where does a dry shrivel soul go to receive life-giving water? This verse suggests that the answer is closer then you think. That the answer maybe in my back yard.
In the back corner of my garden sits a three-tiered fountain. Gushing, bubbling and cascading water with a never-ending flow of crystal clear water provides comfort and refreshment to the robins and bees from the summer heat. In the noonday sun, the heat radiating from the walkway stones burns the souls of my shoes. Sweat pours down my forehead dripping onto my shirt. I stare at my fountain thinking about this: "out of his heart will flow rivers of living water." How does one become a fountain of living water to others? What I need is guidance from the still small voice.
There it is again, that still small voice: "Look at your fountainhead!" What is special about that fountainhead? From the inmost parts of my fountain, crystal clear water gushes upwards towards that fountainhead. Out of each hole, water escapes. If the hole is plugged, water remains within the fountain. Only a cleaning of the head relieves the tension from the gushing water. There it is again that tugging at my heart. Is your soul fountainhead clear of all debris? Others need to refresh their shrivel up soul at your inner fountain. Jesus longs to make my inner soul a fountain of His grace to others. Fulfilling the scripture, which says: "(Patricia) who believes in Me (Jesus), out of (Patricia’s) heart will flow rivers of living water." How is your soul a fountainhead today? Will you allow Christ to overflow His grace to others through your heart?
