Tomorrow's Cares

"Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about its own things. Sufficient for the day is its own trouble." Matthew 6: 34 NKJV

Higher and higher the oil prices rise. The phone calls, the foreclosure letters, and a job lose all bring uncertainty about a prosperous future. Sooner or later, the worry trap ensnares you and me. The more we try to avoid that worry trap the more difficult it gets. It doesn’t take much to unnerve a stable situation.

Each day you and I face a new trial. Yesterday’s troubles end with the evening darkness. As the sun rises, a new adventure into the world of pressing situations looms closer with each moment. How often do you and I fret about future situations that never happen? Most of us do. The Lord says to you and me today, "Sufficient for the day is its own trouble." Take that truth to heart today. Christ knows all about trials.

So, forget about yesterday or tomorrow and brace yourself for today’s adventure. Commit this verse to memory. Take it with you wherever you go. When the trouble knocks on your door of opportunity, remind yourself that "sufficient" is today’s trouble. Don’t daydream about future trials. Only trust and obey the leading of the Holy Spirit to guide your steps through a hectic, hazardous, thrill of life time day. Then and only then can you and I avoid the worry trap.
